People often ask how we ventured into this business, and it's quite an interesting tale. It all started at a trade show around 2007. I stumbled upon a booth where dentists were showcasing a customized performance mouthpiece that aligned the jaw and enhanced performance. Intrigued, I watched as they conducted various tests, demonstrating the incredible benefits of this product. I found myself repeatedly returning to their booth, fascinated by the expressions of amazement on people's faces as they experienced these remarkable performance increases.
Eventually, the dentist at the booth called me over and performed the tests on me. I was blown away and immediately sold on the concept. However, the mouthpiece came with a hefty price tag of $2,500, though it was on special for $1,500. I thought it was outrageous and joked that, despite doing well for myself, I wouldn't pay that much. I left the booth but couldn't shake the impact of what I'd experienced.
Later, as I walked by the booth again, they called me over with a deal: $1,000. I agreed, and after an hour-long custom fitting process, I had my very own performance mouthpiece. Back home, I tested it in my gym and was astounded by the results. The more I used it, the more unbelievable it became. I knew that everyone needed to try this, but the price was a significant barrier.
With a background in product design and fabrication, I set out to create an affordable boil-and-bite version. After countless prototypes and thousands of dollars spent on molds and samples, I finally succeeded. Boldly, I reached out to the original company's contact and revealed my creation. To my surprise, he was intrigued and wanted to meet. During our meeting, he was amazed at how I had achieved what a room full of dentists couldn't, spending over $10 million in the process.
Right there, we formed a partnership and worked together to create the best mouthpieces possible. Fast forward many years, and New Age Performance is now a thriving company, having created the number one performance mouthpiece in the world. Our mouthpieces have transformed the strength and performance of countless athletes worldwide. We've developed the market for performance mouthpieces and, along the way, built a fantastic company that truly helps people.
